ABOUT THE TEXAS SUCCESSFUL FLEXIBLE PAVEMENT WEBSITE

This web site was created in 2007 by the Texas Transportation Institute for the Texas Department of Transportation under research project 0-5472, "Data Base for Successful Pavement Sections in Texas - Including Both Experimental and Non-Experimental Pavements." The TxDOT project director overseeing development activities was Ahmed Eltahan, PhD, P.E., of the Materials and Pavements Section of the Construction Division.

The pavements selected for this web site should be considered representative of the many successfully performing Texas flexible pavements. The selection process began with a solicitation of nominations from the twenty-five district offices located around the state. Preliminary information was gathered about each nominated pavement section, and the research team visited each nominating district to view and discuss the pavement section's history with district personnel. The final selection of pavements considered the need to represent a wide variety of flexible pavement structure types, asphalt mixture types, and the broad geographical area of the state.

District pavement engineers and others delegated this security access level may nominate additional pavement sections at any time. The information on nominated pavement sections may also be accessed by any web site user through the Nominated Pavements dropdown table on the Home page.
